We are soooo excited to announce that Workshop's own knitting instructor/knitwear designer and all around amazing lady, Caddy Ledbetter, is now a published author!

To celebrate the launch of her new book, written with her equally fabulous mom, Sally Melville, we are throwing a party!

Join Caddy, Sally and the rest of the Workshop gang for live music, delicious food, prizes and give aways!

We will also have copies of the book for sale so you can have buy your own copy of Mother Daughter Knits and have it signed by the authors.

Dagg and Stacey has arrived

We have finally received our first shipment of Dagg and Stacey! As usual inspiration comes from unusual places. Influenced by the pages of a year book, Dagg and Stacey's Fall/Winter 2008 Collection hearkens to the Ivy League colleges of the early 1970's. A modern silhouette is fused with the classic reminders of scholastic style.

We are so thrilled to introduce you to a brand new designer! Squishyfish is a line of adorable plushy creatures from the super talented Ottawa native, Tracy Lam.

Each of Tracy's little owls is made from a variety of fabrics often incorporating recycled materials make each one unique. We have a dozen little owls looking for a new home so if you'd like to adopt one come and visit us! ($ 29 - $40 each)

The lovely and talented Pauline is leaving us at the end of the summer to head out to the West Coast and we would like to fill her position with someone equally creative and enthusiastic! We are looking for someone with...

- a creative vibe, someone who likes to play around with needles and thread, paint, fabric, etc.

- a lot of energy! We love chatting with our customers and we have a lot of fun working at the shop! We are looking for someone who will enjoy it too!

- maturity, ideally we would like to find a lovely lady in her 20s or 30s who believes in the importance of promoting independent designers and finding funky clothes to fit customers of all ages and sizes,

- flexibility, we are filling a part time position and some alternate shifts.

We wanted to let you all know that we were looking for someone because we know that you know our shop and our vibe and may know someone who would work well for us!

Workshop hearts new jewellery

We just got in some new jewellery from Fine and Good (Toronto) and Jessie Turner (Vancouver). We've been restocked with some tried and true favourites and some new styles too. We have some adorable lampwork glass and sterling hearts from Aimee from Fine and Good along with some beautiful silver and gold swallow pieces and some silver moon pendants.

Great minds must think alike because we just got a bunch of super cute heart necklaces from Jessie as well. We have them in gold, silver and silver with patina. She also sent us some of her bangles with different textures!

We have tons of new stuff in this week including new skirts from Snoflake (Toronto), a brand new batch of comfy jersey items from Kania (Ottawa), MJanne Couture(Winnipeg) and Amber Leigh (Calgary). They are going fast so get in quickly to get the best picks!

Sweet treats from Candi Factory

We finally have a new shipment from Candi Factory!

We have a huge assortment of the most adorable undies for men and women. They are made of super comfy and breathable microfibre that look and feel great. Bridget and I are both big fans of the line and can say that these undies last forever and feel amazing on!

Here is a bit of info about Candice of Candi Factory:
Candice Levine is a maker of pretty things who hails from Toronto. In the 90’s Candice earned a B.A. in philosophy from the University of Western Ontario and a degree in Fashion Design from Parsons School of Design, NYC.

Since she makes a funny face when attacked by an itchy piece of fabric, Candice created the candi factory to experiment in super-cute softness and occasional polka-dots. These lovable underthings and other things are made from scratch in her King West Studio.

Candice likes rock n’ roll, chocolate, power tools, and Thursdays. She loves her factory adviser/husband Shreve, her studio assistant/cat Gomez and the Rheostatics (a fine example of Canadian art rock, and also the best band that ever was).

We're so excited that our spring shipment from Dagg and Stacey has arrived. We're both huge fans of their collection and the unconventional inspiration behind each collection. This spring these talented ladies were inspired by Marie Antoinette's eighteenth century reign and France of the nineteen fifties. It conveys a feeling of whimsy, serenity, and opulence in its details.

We have some lovely dresses perfect for weddings and proms and super cute rain jackets. Here is a little peek at the new arrivals!

Introducing Brazen Design!

We've been anxiously awaiting it's arrival and they are finally here! The lovely Brazen Design jewellery collection by the lovely Rachel Rachna Dhawan . Bridget were in Montreal before the holidays and came across Rachel's line in a little boutique. We fell instantly in love with her fabulous handmade bling and are super excited to have Rachel's amazing creations at Workshop. Bridget couldn't resist picking up a pair of leaf earrings for herself and I'm feeling like I may need to do the same :)

Rachel Rachna Dhawan, designer and creator of handmade bling, graduated from Concordia University with her baccalaureate of fine arts, with a specialization in fibres and video. A life-long lover and maker of jewellery, she was introduced to silversmithing at the Ecole de Joaillerie de Montreal and is primarily self-taught . Rachel loves food, music and hot accessories.

Brazen Design creations seek inspiration in natural forms, textiles and urban iconography to achieve a balance between playfulness and elegance. brazen design was recipient of the montreal mayor’s foundation entrepreneurship grant, 2007.

Rachel's jewellery is super light weight and very affordale for handmade sterling silver jewellery! These pieces would make great gifts for some others or as a special treat for yourself. Come and check out the goodies for yourself :)

So this is our first ever blog entry and what better way to start than with brand new springy things. We just received a shipment from the fabulous Vancouver Designer, Allison Wonderland. Here are a few pics of the new goodies that arrived yesterday!

I love the Disco Shimmy Dress in Nutmeg - it's super comfy and stylish - great for a night out!
