Ladyfest Ottawa’s “Not Your Grandma's Craft Sale” is back!

Ladyfest Ottawa, in collaboration with punkottawa.com, presents a craft sale like no other. Featuring the hip, unique work of local and national artists and crafters, Not Your Grandma's Craft Sale takes place Saturday, May 10th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Jack Purcell Community Center.

More than 6 years since they’re inception, Ladyfest Ottawa craft sales have become one of the most anticipated events of the year for Ottawa’s growing DIY movement. Attracting more and more crafters of national repute, this year’s spring sale promises to be the best yet with exciting new crafters showcasing clothes, jewellery, paper goods, house wares and so much more.

Those looking to find hip and unique handmade gifts have made this craft sale an anticipated event. Not Your Grandma's Craft Sale is an edgy, DIY twist on the traditional craft bazaar. From “cute but evil” accessories to recycled leather cuffs, belts and wallet, hand-painted shoes and purses to log-shaped pillows and retro wood-grain clocks, this craft sale is a great source for one-of-a-kind gifts.

Ladyfest Ottawa is part of a tradition of grassroots-organized festivals showcasing the talents of female artists. Now in its eighth year, Ladyfest Ottawa strives to build relationships and collaborations with local artists and businesses, in order to provide women with a venue for artistic expression that is open to everyone. Après plus de 6 ans depuis sa création, les ventes d’artisanats de Ladyfest Ottawa sont devenues l’un des événements les plus anticipés de l’année à Ottawa pour le mouvement grandissant du movement DIY (faites le vous-même). Attirant de plus en plus d’artisants ayant un réputation nationale, la vente de ce printemps promet d’être une des plus excitante avec plusieurs nouveaux artisants exposants des vêtements, des bijoux, du papier, des biens pour la maison et encore plus..

Ceux qui recherchent des cadeaux faits è la main qui sont uniques et ont du flair ont faits de cette vente d’artisanat un événement anticipé. Not Your Grandma's Craft Sale est une variante remplie de flaire et de charme de la vente d’artisanat tradinionelle. Variant avec des accessoires « mignons mais démons » à des barcelets de cuirs recyclé, ceintures et porte-monnaie, des souliers peints à la main, des bourses, des oreillers et des horloge en bois, cette vente d’artisanat est une merveuilleuse source pour de cadeaux uniques.

Ladyfest Ottawa fait partie de la tradition des festivals orgnaisés locallements qui démontrent le talent des femmes artistes. MAY CLASSES

Hi Everyone!

We still have a few spaces in our May classes!

We’re super excited that Leslie will be teaching another spinning class. This is the perfect class for people who want to try their hand at spinning their own yarn. What could be better than knitting with your own homespun yarn!

Bridget has just added another earring love class and we have spaces left in the beginner sewing class too!

Spinning *new!

Wednesday, May 21st 6-9pm
$60 + tax, all materials included

Learn to spin yarn on a drop spindle. This 3 hour class will cover the basics of spinning and plying and will include an introduction to different types of fibres available to spinners. The cost of the class includes your own drop spindle to take home, as well as enough wool for a
small project such as a hat. No previous spinning experience required.

Sewing Basics
Monday, May 19th 6-9pm
$45 + tax, materials included

Have a sewing machine but don't know how to use it? This class will familiarize you with your machine and teach you the basics of sewing while making your very own tote bag! The class includes fabric and thread, but if you would like something specific, please feel free to bring your own. Students must bring their own sewing machine (and manual if you have it).

Earring Love
Tuesday, May 27th, 6-9pm
$45 + tax, all materials included

Learn the basics of jewellery making and go home with a bunch of great
earrings!
